October 2014 brought me to La Paz, Bolivia. If I thought I’d been high up in the Andes back in Ecuador, some days here I found myself standing (or sitting, or lying) at over 4,000m above sea level. That’s more than 1,700m higher than the highest point in all of Australia.
For a year I worked for International Justice Mission as Communications Fellow.
International Justice Mission is a global organisation that protects the poor from violence throughout the developing world. IJM partners with local authorities to rescue victims of violence, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen justice systems.
IJM’s Bolivia field office specialises in cases of child sexual violence, providing legal assistance and representation, therapy and other services for victims and their families. Because of the nature of our work and the fact that we are working with minors, much of what we do is sensitive and confidential but I do want to share my reflections with you here, as well as the odd story 🙂

I’ve shared a bunch of photos on this blog, particularly from my trips to Charquini/Chacaltaya and Torotoro. But if you’d like to see a bunch of great snapshots of life in La Paz, let me recommend Ann’s post – it’s full of landscapes and pictures of street life.
