A few years ago, as a going away present, I was given a book of prayers – one for each day of the year. It’s been really great, especially sometimes when I’m feeling a bit dry or don’t have as much inspiration of my own as usual. Reading other people’s heartfelt prayers is wonderful, and often I will find my heart praying along and saying “Amen!” to the words of other Christians from years or centuries past.
I just wanted to share this short one from Kenya; it really spoke to me and I’ve been thinking about it the last few days.
From the cowardice that dare not face new truth,
From the laziness that is content with half truths,
From the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth,
Good Lord, deliver me.
