I’ve been thinking about how difficult it is to stay conscious of this. Even though I’m a missionary – ie. full-time ministry – work is work, and I’m happy with it being this way. I don’t tend to look at it as being spiritual warfare, a battle against the dark world and evil. It all seems a little too dramatic, lifted straight out of a fantasy novel.
But to an extent this is what we all live, wherever we are in the world, whatever job we happen to have. Often when things go well we’ll perhaps put it down to good planning and teamwork; when they go awry, we’ll say it was bad luck, or lack of foresight, or look for reasons. Yet, even if these “reasons” are valid, it doesn’t mean the hand of God and/or the devil hasn’t been in there somewhere.
My next thought is that I (well, “we” – all of us) need to pray a lot more, about everything – if, truly, we are serving God and living for Him.
